This work is an account of the bond between a person and their own roots: somewhere between a past woven into pattern and colour, and a present taking shape in the search for meaning.
The woman at the centre of this image is not merely a face, but a symbol of awareness, presence and inward looking — a face that rises out of ancient patterns and comes to rest at the border between reality and memory.
Persian carpets, with all their intricacy and delicacy, are a reflection of history, culture and collective memory; layers of time woven into one another, providing the ground on which identity forms. And within this, the human being is not separate from that ground but born of it — a presence carrying the past, drawing near to self-understanding in a deep silence.
Her hand rests on a rug that other hands wove years ago with patience, pain and hope; threads that are not only pattern, but path. In the turning of every boteh is hidden the trace of an unfinished journey — a road begun in the heart of the earth and extended toward a distant light.
The flowers are not decoration; they recall the moments in which a person understood beauty for the first time, even in the midst of suffering. The tangled lines are the turning of time: the repetition of birth, forgetting and return.
She is neither subject nor spectator. She is a bridge between what has been woven and what must still be understood. And in the heart of that endless weave there is a light — hidden, but running through every pattern.
Salute to the light
